If you are not familiar with "the scorch" from the book "The Scorch Trials" then you might be confused on why a bunch of wolves choose to travel and live in a desert.
In the book, the world went through some kind of war (cause humans) and the entire globe (Except for the oceans, they are just too deep) got turned into a desert wasteland filled with tiny plant life here and there, an occasional desert hardy tree and lots and lots of ruins from old human buildings. Fresh water is scarce on the surface of the land, as well as large animals. However, desert life flourishes because of the increase of space. Small reptiles, rodents, birds, and bugs, are the most common to find large animals are rare. Hidden in ruins or caves though, lurk dangers waiting to feast.
Here are some pictures of the land near human cities.(Remember this is the entire globe, not just one continent.) Here are some pics away from the cities and towns. Any water source in the pics are rare to find. YES, some deserts are high enough above sea level, so there is snow, this is called a polar desert. The Antarctic is a desert.Sometimes there are deep caves housing water in these kinds of outcroppings, however it is deep under where danger lies. Have any questions about the land, comment and I will be sure to answer.
