Everything was hot. His paws were unsteady as he moved forward. He couldn't even feel his legs moving anymore. He'd been walking for so long. Or maybe he hadn't? It was very difficult to get his mind to process even simple things anymore. Was he walking straight or in circles? Who cares... He wished the hills in front of him would stop waving around like that. It was making him nauseous. Also that long, dry thing hanging out of his mouth? What even was that? And that raspy sound coming out of his mouth. He couldn't figure out what that was, either. Nor the strikingly familiar shape in the distance. It was remarkably different from the scenery he'd seen endlessly for weeks. A carcass? No, it was moving. Life. Wolves. What was a wolf? He was a wolf. Wolves... familiar... life... help...
Adrien tried to speak, but he'd somehow forgotten how to. So all that came out was a wheeze. He tried harder, his steps speeding up. But he was still unsteady, given his exhaustion and lame back leg. So he looked very drunk in his approach. His tongue lolled out as far as it would go, and his head was at an odd tilt as he tried to make out the figure in the blinding brightness of the sun. He was quite a sight indeed. A little frightening, even, complimented nicely by how ragged and skinny he was.
When speech failed him, he tried to howl. But that definitely was the wrong choice, because it came out like the scream of a fox, which was not at all the type of greeting he meant to give. But it didn't really matter, as long as he got its attention before it disappeared. Just like they always did. Real wolves and mirage wolves... But this wasn't a mirage... It couldn't be. It just couldn't...

Notes: Posting this here cuz a lot is happening at the camp thread. Adrien is not infected but he's certainly acting like he is.

Walking forever, took forever, Safire wished she had some kind of 'Coat removal' thing to shave her fur off. She always had a long thick coat and now that she was in a desert she wanted nothing to do with it. How long had she'd been walking? A day, a week, a month!? Everything just blurred together. Twice she had tried to drink sand because it looked like a pool of water. Safire stopped walking. Maybe I'm dead, She thought to herself, Maybe, this is what death is like and that's why no one wants to die.....But if I'm dead how did I die? She looked around trying to remember. She saw a little white blob was far away. I wonder if that's a ghost....Should I go talk to it? More thoughts like this entered her head along with, I'm so thirsty, maybe the ghost can give me some water when he turns around.....
Eventually she made her way to some weird looking trees, closer to the now screaming ghost-wolf. Safire walked in a little zig zag pattern looked up into the sky then fell over onto her side. She had blacked out.

Camilla came running in when she noticed a faint howling. She saw a scarlet colored female laying on the ground. She quickly examined the body... no she wasn't to late, the she'wolf was still breathing. She looked up and saw a young male standing in front of her. "Quick! Help me get her back to the camp, I'll help you as well!" the healer said and started to pick up the female.

The figure he saw seemed to be coming toward him, getting bigger and bigger. Could it be? Was this was real? Or would it just be another numb disappointment? He quickened his pace, which was a bad idea because he immediately tripped and got a snout full of sand. Frantically, he tried to get back to his three working paws, his legs scrabbling beneath him. When he was up, he started to hobble closer, only to see that the figure had stopped and now appeared to be lying down. Confusion made him hesitate, just long enough to see another wolf come running. She gave attention to the apparently fainted wolf, before looking at him and making sounds. Words? He tilted his head slightly before shaking it back and forth, trying to clear the figurative or perhaps literal sand from his ears. The world around him swam when he looked again, but he was able to focus better when he zoned in on the she-wolf picking up the other wolf after asking his help. Running on autopilot, he limped toward her and grasped the fainted wolf by the scruff, pulling her with whatever strength he had left so that she lay on the other she-wolf's back. Then he backed away a step, panting, unsure what to do with himself without specific instructions.

Camilla saw the young male help her get the scarlet female on her back. "You follow me, you need some medical attention!" She said starting to walk back to the camp

Adrien nodded stupidly, for lack of sense to say anything. He followed her, perhaps a little too closely, to where ever they were going. He stared at the back of her head the entire way. He couldn't look away. She might disappear. They all disappeared eventually. But may this time, if he never looked away, she would stay.

Camilla and Adrien trotted into the desert. "Here we go again..." she thought aloud sighing as her paws sank into the hot sand. She gave a slow trot so that the little male could keep up easily. After a while her feet here burning like hell and she decided a short rest couldn't hurt. She stepped into the shade of the rock and signaled Adrien to join her rest. After a minute she began to speak. "How old are you...? How long have you been alone?" she asked with a soft voice, trying to make the male feel calmed.

Adrien tried his best to keep it together during the trek across the desert, but it was hard to keep his balance on three legs and constantly shifting sands. He stumbled several times, but managed not to fall. He just barely managed to keep up with Camilla, even though she wasn't walking all that fast. Is this really the best I can do? He chastised himself silently. He noticed Camilla veer off into some shade and followed her gratefully. He plopped down to his belly ungracefully with a long sigh. He enjoyed the relief in silence before Camilla spoke, asking him to talk about himself. He hesitated for a brief moment. "Just a year, I think. It's hard to tell now, what with the weather so different than it was last year," he answered quietly. He though hard about her second question. "I don't really know... a month? ... or two... It's hard to keep track of time when you think every day will be the day you die..." He quickly realized how solemn he was being and mustered up his best smile. "Sorry! I didn't mean to get so depressing about it."

Camilla smiled again. "Its fine. We all went through our difficulties, its good to let it out once in a while." she said to the young male. He seemed so lonely, so scared, so sensitive... who could blame him, he came out of the scorch. She made her voice soft and spoke to him again. "Were you left behind...?" she asked as she looked down.

Adrien nodded at Camilla's gentle reassurance. But her second question made him stiffen. He was quick to change the subject, though not at all subtle about it. "So, you and Diablo. You seem... close. Are you mates?" He hadn't been around at the beginning, but he could see that they in particular seemed very comfortable with each other. It might have come off as a rude question, but he kind of wanted to know if the wolf he was talking to was technically an alpha. x Adressed: Camilla Notes: He wasn't around when Diablo and Camilla said they were siblings :P

Camilla laughed softly. "No he's by brother, we are a bit close aren't we?" she smiled warmly to the male. "Where's your mother? You seem a bit young to wander out here alone..." she said sounding as caring as can be. This was a very young wolf, and he didn't deserve to go through all of these problems. He's just a pup! No happy memories, just an empty scorch filled with dangers, which he had to face alone. This was going to end now, she knew she had to do something.

Adrien felt embarrassed for getting that so wrong. But he envied her. Having a surviving relative. It must have really given her a sense of comfort despite these hardships. Camilla asked him again about his family. He shook his head slowly. It may have been months ago, but in his head it was much too soon to talk about. "Long gone, I'm sure," he answered grimly, looking away. "When you're a liability, you don't have a family anymore."

Camilla's smile faded and her ears went down. Indeed as she feared, the pup was left alone. There was only one more thing left for her to say. "My dearest right hand and faithful omega Adrien. No one is alone. You are not alone. I won't let that happen. If you, young pup, will accept me, I will adopt you and be your motherly figure." she said with full sympathy to the kid.
